Take Action by Writing a Letter to MDE asking for a Stronger Industrial Stormwater Permit

Gunpowder Riverkeeper and others challenged the Department’s Final Determination on the statewide 20SW Industrial Stormwater permit that regulates stormwater from industrial facilities.

In accordance with an order from the Circuit Court, the Department has agreed to a limited remand to accept comments on the following sections;
No Exposure Certification – Part I.F.
Comprehensive Site Compliance Evaluation – Part V.A.2.b. and,
Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Requirements – Part III.C.

Please take action by submitting your comment letter asking for a strengthening of the permit in order to protect water quality and downstream residents and the health of the 26 species of finfish that use the tidal Gunpowder and Bush rivers as a nursery ground in the Chesapeake Bay via this online form
