John Lee covered the Baltimore County Council’s hearing to discuss the Days Cove Rubble Landfill’s wastewater discharge permit in his article Baltimore County Council pushes to block landfill toxic wastewater release. The council met to discuss a resolution opposing the permit filed by councilman David Marks and cosponsored by Council Chair Mike Ertel, Councilmen Todd Crandell, Izzy Patoka, and Wade Kach. Theaux Le Gardeur captured the community’s feelings when he said, “So if we’re thinking in terms of preserving the issue of public sentiment, there are 80,000 residents around this landfill, and overwhelmingly they are saying, ‘no.’”
If you couldn’t attend the hearing, but would still like your voice to be heard, please send in a comment opposing the permit. The comment period ends October 22nd at 5pm.
