Of the 134 public comments submitted to the Maryland Board of Public Works website through the public comment form for their meeting May 6th, 2026, all but two oppose the Days Cove Rubble Landfill Lease Renewal. One comment is about an unrelated agenda item, and the lone SUPPORT commenter appears to have clicked “support” unintentionally, as their comment opposes the landfill’s lease renewal.
Another notable contribution to the public record came from the office of Hartford County Council Member Nolanda Robert.

Other notable commenters are Delegate Ryan Nawrocki, Delegate Kathy Szeliga, Senator J.B. Jennings, Baltimore County Council Member David Marks, and Gunpowder RIVERKEEPER® Theaux Le Gardeur. Mr. Le Gardeur’s comment has been reproduced below.
Gunpowder RIVERKEEPER® is happy to have been able to provide the information required to make an informed decision to many commenters. No less than a dozen comments include our language on the lease renewal and many more authors carefully crafted and personalized their comment to reflect their unique perspective on the issue.
