Thanks to The Bay Journal’s Tim Wheeler, WYPR’s John Lee, and Baltimore Sun’s Natalie Jones for their coverage of Baltimore County Council’s unanimous resolution to oppose the Days Cove Rubble Landfill’s discharge permit. All three outlets also referenced Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier’s comments on behalf of county residents. The Sun quotes her comment to MDE urging them to, “utilize every tool at its disposal to ensure compliance.” The Sun also references Harford County Councilwoman Nolanda Robert who “echoed support for the Baltimore County resolution in a letter to the council.”

Also thanks for Sapna Bansil at The Baltimore Banner for her comprehensive history of the Days Cove Rubble Landfill and analysis of the complicated relationship between the landfill’s owners, lease holders, and state regulators. Josh Sine, president of the Essex Middle River Civic Council is quoted describing it as a “fox is guarding the henhouse,” situation and “find[s] it pretty disturbing that the state, who is the regulator of the landfill, is the one getting funds off of the landfill.”
