Emily Chase, a third-year student at Skidmore College, has joined Gunpowder RIVERKEEPER® as a summer intern. Having grown up in the suburbs of Minnesota, the state of 10,000 lakes, Emily appreciates the value of clean water and the importance of conserving the integrity of our aquatic environments. She is pursuing her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies and has specific interests in environmental justice and grassroots work. The Environmental Studies and Sciences department at Skidmore is sponsoring Emily for her time spent at Gunpowder RIVERKEEPER® through their Summer Experience Award.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first two weeks of work with Gunpowder RIVERKEEPER®. Already, I’ve been working on outreach, advocacy, and monitoring projects that have shown me the importance of preserving the environmental stability of the Gunpowder watershed. I am thrilled to have begun my time at RIVERKEEPER® to expand my experience in the multifaceted work of land and water conservation.
