Tage Sylvan is a Maryland Corps/Service Year Option Member who will be working with Gunpowder Riverkeeper until June 24th, 2025. Tage was a student in Community College of Baltimore County’s Sustainable Horticulture program, where he learned about storm water management, soil science, and herbaceous plant materials. He has also worked with Hillen Homestead, a small urban flower farm near the heart of Baltimore. Over the next seven months he intends to use his horticultural skills and knowledge as a DSCI Service Year Option Member to help Gunpowder Riverkeeper improve the Sparks Bank Nature Center, secure grants, and protect the river that supplies drinking water to over 1.5 million people.
